THE PINEAPPLE


The Langley Officers' Spouses' Club's symbol is the pineapple. The fruit, which was the colonial symbol of friendship and hospitality, symbolized the high spirits of social events. The image of the pineapple came to express the sense of welcome, good cheer, human warmth, and family affection. It's our goal for you that Langley Air Force Base will become "home".

2007 WHITE HOUSE ORNAMENT

The only U.S. president elected to two nonconsecutive terms, Cleveland served as the 22nd president from 1885 to 1889 and as the 24th president from 1893 to 1897; his will be the only presidency to be featured on two White House Historical Association ornaments. Cleveland was also the only president to marry in the White House. The historic event is the focus of the 2007 ornament. The central illustration is a tinted reproduction of an engraving that originally appeared in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Magazine depicting the bride and groom taking their vows. The gold-plated frame surrounding the engraving showcases design elements from the Cleveland's wedding certificate album. The groom's monogram, which anchors a decorative border incorporating orange blossoms from Frances Folsom's wedding gown, is incorporated on the front of the ornament, while the bride's monogram is featured on the back.

14 May	VA Hospital Carnival
12-3:00pm at the VA Medical Center. We'll be sponsoring a game booth (beanbag toss. LOSC volunteers are needed to help. E–mail Enesa Klieger for more information. Where is the VA Hospital?
15 May	"Oh, The Places You'll Go" Luncheon
11:00AM at the Bayside Enlisted Club (350 Clarke Ave, LAFB) Where is the E'Club? MENU Choice #1 - Chicken Francaise Egg Dipped Sautéed Breast of Chicken with fresh mushrooms, Basil, and lemon in a white wine sauce. Served over angel hair pasta. Choice #2 - Tri-Salad Plate Chunky Chicken Salad with Pecans Tri-Colored Pasta Primavera Sliced Fresh Fruit Medley Mini Croissants with butter rosettes Chocolate Cake with raspberry sauce Coffee/tea/decafe Cost: $10 ($12 without O’Club membership)
22 May	TOSA Charitable Luncheon

28 May	Scholarship Reception & Awards Presentation
7:00PM at the Bayside Enlisted Club (350 Clarke Ave, LAFB). Come say congratulations to this year's scholarship winners. Where is the E'Club?
10 June	LOSC Hosts Cookout at the VA Hospital
We need LOSC members to volunteers to prepare and serve picnic food at the VA Hospital. Or, please consider donating a dish. Times: Set-up: 10:30am, Start cooking: 11am, & Start serving: 12pm. E-mail Enesa Klieger for more information. Where is the VA Hospital?
19-20 June	MOAA Spouse Symposium
The LOSC will have a booth at the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Symposium at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Please assist us in manning our booth. E–mail Cindy Bergman for more information.



	RESERVATIONS We have two (2) types of reservations; Permanent and Event. Permanent reservations means you don't have to call to say you are coming. You only call if you can't come or if you want entree #2 (usually a salad or other light entree). Event reservation means you call to reserve a place setting for each event. Make your permanent and event reservations with Nancy Gray (243-2186). Reservation cancellations are accepted the Monday prior to a function, or as specified in ACCents or this website.



	CHILD CARE Need child care to attend an LOSC function? Make your child care reservations with the Langley Child Development Center (CDC) 764-3449/ 3585. Please review our web page 'CDC Childcare Procedures for LOSC Functions' before making your reservations. Reservations must be made by the Friday before the function, or make permanent reservations.
